On March 30th The Whatcom county chapter of trout unlimited is having a benifit auction and dinner. The purpose for the benifit is to raise money for the addional Steelhead the state is going to allow us to raise. On average their is only 60,000 fish raised for the Nooksack system. This is because the Nooksack has in recent years relide on other systems such as the Skagit, Tokul Creek etc.. This year between our rearing pound on the middle fork and the state hatchery on the north fork we have gotten a large enough return as not to have to rely on other hatcherys. We our going to raise between our to locations aprox. 130,000 fish. The only problem is we have to raise $7000 for the extra 70,000 fish. Also some of the money raised will help with the kids fishing derby at Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham. This auction will be held at the Deming Log Show Grounds with doors opening at 5:00 pm and a catered beef dinner at 7:00. The auction should follow immediately after dinner.
