Does anyone out there hunt or fish in the wheyerhauser? I know some pretty killer fishing spots, and also do a fair amount of hunting behind the gates. Just thought I would shoot a line out and see if anyone else is getting out into this prime habitat. Its almost that time of year, for the opener of weyerhauser. There are plenty of zipper lips on the land for everyone.

I grew up hunting weyerhauser near N.Bend, I stopped in the mid-ninties when they went to the fee entry. I'm not opposed to the fee cause it sure helped clean up the woods, but I do alot of hunting during the week and the gates dont open till 3pm mid-week and that only gives a couple hours to hunt before dark. I dont really miss it much cause I'd rather hunt E.Wa. now anyway, but some of the biggest blacktail bucks I've ever seen have come out of there.

I hear you there. I totally agree with the fee entry, it keeps the hunting and fishing pressure extremely light. And if anything else it is a place to go and get away from all the people and take a drive and do some exploration. I haven't seen much in the way of big bucks. But last ear just before the close I saw a full grown cougar kitten. It is just a hard area to hunt being so brushy. So I am partial to hunting in eastern washington myself. But it is a nice place to go for some mid week hunting. I recieved a free pass for this year. For my efforts in reporting a drunk driver, and what turns out to be a convicted felon in behind the gates. So I am looking forward to another year of trying to find one of the many un mapped lakes in the area to pull out a few of the big trout that they hold.
Hope to see you up there.
