To say that he and Sportco have had a rocky relationship over the years would be a bit of an understatement.

Stopped by the store Saturday afternoon to buy some rubbers, and bulk 1/4 " lead. Didn't see "One Size Fits All" Zog. Dude has an off-beat sense of humor.

I always had good conversations with the General when he was at Sportco. The man has forgotten more about steelhead than I will ever know. I hope he finds a good place to land.

I remember once I ran into him at Nootka. He had a boot king salmon. He said "a little dark but the meats still red". I said yes, you can see it through the scabs on its back.

I know very few people with a better heart than Bill. He is witty, wise, has an amazing memeory, is generous and is perhaps the best spoon fisherman alive today. Plus he has a passion for steelhead matched by few others I know.

He's done an awful lot for our community over the years, and deserves some respect for that, at least, don't ya think?

P.S. I'll also add that Bill's never been anything but a gentleman to deal with, either as a business owner or as a sometimes fishing partner...I'm going to assume that there is some sort of a misunderstanding before I'd consider thinking otherwise.

i'm surprised that no one has never created the moniker Bill Herzog to be honest.

back in the early 90s i talked with Zog on the phone a few times and found him to be exactly the same way he is (was) as sportco. he's good people.

over the years i've thought of ways Zog could have messed with guys minds.

for example, claiming the absolute superiority of regular pencil tubing over the black sergical tubing... could you imagine the ignorant hoarding of non-black tubing these days. hey guys! check out the 15' of sergical tubing i just got off ebay!!! $60!!! scored i did!

guys claiming to only buy/use the closedface johnson/centry 201 cause Zog raved it's virtues. this is a gag example of course but likewise sadly true.

i'm sure the Zog is somewhere doing fine.
