P,

"We, as anglers, need to lead by example and stop the allowable harvesting of any wild steelhead in our state. IE, a state wide ban on the harvesting of wild steelhead.

Once that happens, we organize as a group (yeah, I know, wild dream) and go to places like Komo, Kiro, and King TV and show them working tribal gillnets in action. "

Count me in!

Here's a thought for you crackers how about total closure on certain watersheds period odd years or such and rotating a schedule like Bogy closed for 2 years then reopened no fishing period, then open it up and closing the solduc for a couple years , etc., Hoh, Clearwater just a thought to see what would happen!!!PEACE

I have had customers and employers ask me/tell me to do things that were legal but, I felt, unethical. Each time I have refused. It cost me good job at one time too. Walk the talk or the words are just BS.

Hate to poop in your punch bowl, but Cedar River has been closed to steelheading since 1992; that's twenty years. In recent years it has only been open for a selective gear CnR trout fishery during the summer months. Check out this page to see how well that's been working...

LOL when yall gonna learn , after the last native steelhead and salmon are gone ? Feel good about releasing that big nate? Feel all soft and fuzzy? Thats great but you are not doing the resource any favors by ignoring the root causes of there demise just because theres nothing we can do about it attitude so well do this and feel good about it but your still pissin in the wind sheeple.
Ya i quit posting for along time and dont worry i dont plan on blowing more common sense up your butts its a waste of bandwidth.

Any guide that keeps a native is only cutting his nose off to spite his face! I don't give a sh!t about the reasons (excuses) that people give for retaining a wild steelhead. THERE IS NO GOOD REASON OR EXCUSE FOR KEEPING A NATIVE STEELHEAD! If I hear of guides keeping them I will make sure that they will be exposed on this site. If I decide to fly to Patagonia for steelhead, brown trout and rainbow should I tell my guide that I deserve to kill one since I came all that way? He would tell me to go get &%$$%##! The same applies all over the world. Why is it different here? There are fishing destinations in places where the people don’t even have a high school education yet they can see the advantages of catch and release and conservation of the resource. AGAIN, why is it different here?

I've seen Kings in the 45-50 pound range in the Cedar as recent as 1983. I wonder how many Kings spawn there now?

Why is it different here ?

Because it's America

I

Me

Mine

Anything else is socialism...............

Only pussy countries take care of their resources, a real country harvests every bit of every resource they have to make money off it, and then finds a new country to invade and starts in on their resources. Soon, when a steelheader becomes President, we will invade Canada.....................or just install a puppet regime.

On that note, I'd like to announce my candidacy for the Office of the President of the United States of America. I will seek the Presidency on the "Steelheader Party" ballot, and since I am the only one in that party at the present, I declare myself the nominee.

I take PayPal.

Thank you.

I have always thought we should invade Canada. It's close. We speak the language, they have abundant natural resources. And they apparently have an abundance of the letter E.

Once we are in power there we can limit Canadians to two days a week on the best rivers to assure the U.S. warlords a better experience on the other five days. Then we can let our guys manage the fish till they are all gone. After all that we can eliminate the metric system so they will look as dumb as us and need to import their tools from us. Then we can give them all of the northern 90 percent back, except during hunting season.

My name is Dave Vedder and I endorse this message.

P.S. As Dan S says, "It's not Canadian bacon - it's ham!!
