Been out on the Hood canal the past couple of nights, and had some decent fishing for the Searuns. Fry are swimming around the area right now, and some rather feisty and large Cutts have been chasing them around. A few fell to a small streamer I have been stripping on an intermediate line. Couple of them were pushing 20'', and all were sweet fish to be sure.

If it gets nice, and you want a change of pace from Steelies and Lakes, I'd say get after 'em............ smile

Yeah pics make everything better I know, but 'beachwalking' (Did I coin that? ) is how I fish 'em and taking along a camera, especially my dinosaur of a camera just isn't in the game plan.

But maybe if I get motivated I will try and take a sh!tty gaymfishin style cameraphone pic on my 49 dollar phone and text it to you.

But right now, I have to finish my article on 'Beachwalking for Searun Cutts'

wink

Sounds like fun.
A mentor of mine was a streamer fisherman. Grey Ghost was his favorite pattern.
He would have loved a fishery like that.

Haven't seen any, but things just started to move towards decent, if ya know what I mean. Certainly going to be on the prowl here as time and tides allow.

I'll keep ya posted, and also that reminds me, I need to take the bucktail off the window....or at least turn it around.

Candlefish patterns can be deadly on the Canal.. along with flying ants, and my favorite of all, a Royal Coachman, or Bucktail Coachman...

KK,
Thanks for the info. It will only get better for you.

I need to tape a few more up pretty soon.
I've found it bleaches the top out pretty good, but not the underneath stuff. Tie some bugs with the top stuff then set it out again to finish the process.

It is always funny when the neighbors ask what are those pink things hanging from your house window?.... grin

KK, if I can lug one to the top of north america eight years running, I am fully confident that you can manage to drag one alone on one of your beach walks.

Camera's that is, not trout smile Suck it up old man.

That is my way of saying I would love to see some SRC pics. They are a beautiful fish. Try and keep your ugly mug out of the frame whenever physically possible. Glad you have been finding them.

Coley,
I like it. The pink things my neighbors are referring to are a bit different.
I tape cerise bucktails to the window to bleach them to pale pink. Finding pale pink bucktails at local fly shops is nearly impossible. If you order them nearly every time they are the wrong color. It is easier just to make your own.
I use the pale pink in place of white on all my beach coho flies.
KK and chrome/22 are fellow "bleachers"..... grin

KK
Lets see some pics.....

Aha. I was wondering why your neighbors would be inspecting your windows closely enough to notice flies hanging from the frame. Bucktails would be a bit more noticeable indeed.

Have a "pale rider" in the back window of my work rig, its taken a year of Seattle sunshine to bleach that bucktail out.

Its so pale pink its almost white, thats money right there.

Send me a couple to take on Denali in June. The sun up there would have them bone white in a day or two. It is so intense at times I swear I can smell nylon burning.

Flight suits are made out of nomex, which doesn't burn...duh.

Tent fly's last about one, maybe two trips. Backpacks, three trips if you are lucky. The sun nukes everything. Hats, jackets, gloves, etc. all get severely bleached on a single two to three week trip. Hell, I am only 22 years old but I look like I am 45. That much sun, wind, and weather on a face can't be good for ya.

I have a couple of bucktails that I could strap to the top of my sled duffel for the sake of experiment. Might be interesting...but then again I would have to carry it up and down a mountain. Hmmm.

They are a hell of a lot lighter than a camera....
