How come there is so many predominantly Mexican people at all the Home Depot's looking/waiting for work? Why aren't they rounded up and deported? Who is it that makes the call NOT to do something about that kind of bs? I have to wonder why people think illegal immigrants actually contribute to the economy by filing and paying taxes. I doubt any of those workers at the Home Depot bother with the taxes unless they expect a refund. WTF

Their alternative would be sitting at home waiting for their checks to show up in the mail. I'd prefer they worked instead of sucking up county money. If you think they're taking work away from Americans, well, those Americans can stand out in front of Home Depot too.

I haven't experienced that at the two that I frequent at all. Lacey (Hawk's Prairie) and Aberdeen, and I have a "Pro" account.

easy revenue for the government... they will work for nothing, pay almost all of it in taxes, and still be far happier than where they were the year before... cant blame em...

Head north of Olympia Dogfish. Once the hispanic population in the harbor exceeds the available jobs open to them the Aberdeen HD will have them.

Salman,

Why is it that I suspect you're a guy who spouts off about "reverse racisim" all the time, too?

I moved last summer and hired two brown men from the Home Depot parking lot for the day. Both were hard workers and I paid them each $12/hr with a tip worth about half their day at the end.

As we were driving from the old house to the new house we caught a light at an I-5 intersection. There was one brown skinned guy with a sign asking for $ among the mostly lighter folks.

I didn't notice the brown guy until one of my movers went ape [Bleeeeep!], rolled down his window and started yelling at the sign holder in spanish.
I asked the other guy what was making his pard so red. He said "He's mad because there is a hispanic begging. Brown people don't beg...we work. F that guy."

I liked that.

I have hired them several times. They always worked their azzes off.
I respect hard work for pay. So do they. Round them up and ship them off and who's going to do the hard work for low pay?

I sureashell don't see a buncha white teenagers coming around wanting to mow my lawn. Right now my rider is broken. I would gladly pay some kid $30.00 to mow my 3/4 acre of lawn. It takes about 75 minutes. - so far no takers.

We don't have much of that down here that I've seen.
But it would be the new "street corner" seems to me, where "casual laborers" congregate hoping that someone buying materials needs help.

Legal, top of the table stuff ?
No, most likely not.
But for $10 - $15 bux an hour, what do you want, a lazy American kid or a Mexican that will work his a$$ off for you ?
Mind you, not all American kids are lazy, but I've seen a few.
Seen a few lazy Mexicans, too. They don't last long, though.

I think the reason you see the Mexicans at Home Depot is because they're qualified to do the work that people go there looking for workers to do, they like to work, and they need to money.

Go downtown, or to any busy intersection where there are panhandlers...God Bless! Every nickle helps!...they aren't Mexicans.

Mexicans think every nickle helps, too...they just prefer the nickles in the form of a handful of 20's at the end of the day after working all day.

Anyone who ever says anything about Mexicans not working hard, being lazy, or taking jobs away from Americans is a fuckin idiot...100% pure and unadulterated idiot.

The ones I've worked with in the trades are hard workers, are always on time, never take an extra minute for break or lunch, and never leave early...

Maybe the better question is "Why aren't all the white guys who don't have jobs standing outside of Home Depot looking for some day work?"

Fish on...

Todd

I have had a few negative experiences with the "brown guys" from the HD parking lot.

Had a pair that wanted $15 and hour after they were on the job for a couple of hours (when they agreed to $12 when I picked them up), they convinced my associate onsite to take them back to HD while I was on a material run.

Another time I had a pair that just didn't want to work as hard as I was. . . . I am done paying "illegals" to do any work for me. .. it is hard to find good help period these day it seems.

My 10 and 12 yr old neighbor boys work harder when I hire them to do yard work for me at my place. . . .

Hard to tell which are here legally. If they are here illegally then they get free health care and other benefits, and as you say they don't have to pay tax. Even the ones that are here legally probably are being paid under the table. Not sure who enforces - IRS, Customs, Border Patrol. I know the Border Patrol has hit the Forks area hard.

Wish I could find somebody to wash my truck for cheap or mow my grass. I shattered my patio door when I hit a rock with the weewacker today. Anybody want a job replacing a Milgard sliding glass pane?

The difference is American citizens are collecting unemployment the illegals are on anchor baby money (welfare, food stamps, electricity paid & from what I gather rent or mortgage payment, etc.). Want to know how to work the system? Don't ask an American.

Sorry, don't mean to be mean but it is true.

Now adays on gov projects - most are families, for example almost all tile layers are Russians right down to their grandma with the scarf on her head. Owner / Operater that is the new prevailing wage.

L&I can never seem to catch them though - not that they are doing anything wrong, just too fast. Loud words - collecting of goods & running like hell. L&I tried for 3 weeks on one job before giving up. I know this is about Mexicans (all though most aren't - lots of S. Americans here legally from hurricanes etc). I still call them all flojos - they call me worse. But just gotta share my new Russian words - Babushka (that's what you call grandma!) Pajalusta, Prestiti, Peevha. Nit malkawa - Da Peevha. Spelling??? Lol My life is....[Bleeeeep!].

Yeah we had some Russians lay our laminate floor, via Empire, and they did a good job. One didn't speak much English. The other guy spoke broken English. But they did a good job and worked fast. Had to call customer service to fix a bad spot and they came out and fixed it.

Yes - they do a good job - no doubt. We have as of late taken our que from the Russians & Flojos on jobs - when they walk - we walk. No one works for free. Good grief!!! Had a owner rep & a project manager tell me - we don't finance you! To which I said - we don't finance you! Not anymore anyhow - lol -when the Russians & Flojos walk so do we!
