So what's open now? Mouth of the Wind and Drano?

I did the Drano thing once with Phil, and while it puts out fish, I discovered it ain't my cup o' tea. or Coors, or Rockstar, or any other assorted rot gut.

Mouth of the wind and drano are both open. I believe the canyon stretch of the wind is open too but probably too early still for loads of fish to be up there. I tried to find access to the canyon when I was there a couple weeks ago. the closest I got was on top of a very tall bridge and wasn't sure how to get down to the pools below. I also took a drive down Indian cabin road and was greeted by a sign at the end of the road that said "fishing access under new management, no access" or something like that. I'm assuming I found the access where you have to buy a key to the gate to fish that stretch. from the exploring I did, it doesn't seem like a very bankie friendly river as far as access is concerned.

That bridge you looked over is where the blue hole is...some day I may tell ya how to get there....let's just say you drove past the road to get down close then hike into it.I stay @ my buddies house just before the bridge on the left in Carson. There are a few other spots up stream a guy can get into also.Early bird get's the worm or hole on that river better be willing to hike and be a billy goat also.Good luck,
SZ

So I'm gonna smoke first...then mix my R & R with Rockstar then drink dark mud coffee in the am..............Got it.The fish need to slow down still..............just sayin.

Add in some springers and that sounds like a damn good time right there!

listen May has always been a springer mover month. there's a huge group of springer dumbasses that think that springers move feb, mar. apr. well a few do but may is when them springers really light a FARH!

i know a guy who has put the hurt on springers plunking the cowlitz. no boat no motor to feed fuel to. no cutplug hearing to buy. no washing plugs with windex. just casting spinglows and , yea SS! bet he has 2/3s a card filled by now.

18,436 went over bonneville yesterday! Holy FvCK!

Brewer, speaking of the cowlitz I'd assume with that much movement upriver on the Columbia the cowlitz should really be popping off any second. I've been watching the barrier counts and they haven't been anything impressive yet. I'm sure a guy could pull a few out with ease though now at barrier or some of the less crowded springer holes down there. From what I hear the boats are having a tough time due to the higher flows though.

I fished the lower Willy and the Multnomah Channel Mon - Wed this week. I was 2/4 and my buddy was 3/5. Fishing on the Willy picked up a lot from last week. Temp went up from 48 to 54 and that got the fish moving and biting. Could be the same on the C.

Here's a report white hot off the press...

" Because so many people saw fish moving up a ladder, they all flocked with thier boats to Drano Lake Wash. to try thier luck at catching a Chinook Salmon. So many boats infact, that they effectivley damned the little white salmon river. Along with displacing so much water with the hulls of thier boats, causing the water to flood over the Lewis and Clark highway, and now Drano Lake is no more."

- Seattle Times

True story.

only 7,200 today. far cry from 18,436 yesterday, but still a ton of fish.
