Thanks for a current report.

Was in Yakima Valley over the weekend. The Yakima River was running bank full and the color of milk chocolate. With the snow pack, it could be muddy for some time.

Ya, I had heard this was all caused by the Yakima. Good to hear from someone who's seen it. These springers gotta head over bonneville eventually though. 800+ went over today. Better than the last two days I guess. Seems like if the flows don't drop soon they'll just be trickling in like this til the run is over though and we won't see huge numbers going over daily. I hope that's not the case and that I can make it over one more time.

Would the Yakima river cause drano to be like that? It enters the Columbia so far up river and at least 2 dams?

drano was nice visibility wise. Just not many fish at all. there is some vis at the mouth of the wind too but once you get past the point a little ways you can see a defined seam where the mud starts. From the road it looked like the visibility ended no more than 30 yards off the point. I bet a guy could do alright trolling along that mud seam but still there just aren't many fish.

Kudos to Jim at NWfishingguides.net for calling to cancel and reschedule trip.

They prefer clients catching fish VS just boat rides.

The Yakima is part of the mud for sure but most of it is coming from the Snake. All the rivers up here are puking mud and sticks. The Snake looks like Willy Wonka's chocholate river.

The lack of early fish the last 5 years over Bonneville is dramatic when compared to the portion of the run going over the decade before.

If every year was average, there would only be one best day to go fishing.

I was born/raised in Portland and grew up fishing springers in the Willy. One of my best friends lives in columbia city and moors his boat at Freds on the lower Willy. I've gone with him every year for last 10-12 years. I was going to go last week with him on the Willy but he told me to cancel and then I was going to go this week, again he said cancel.

Its slow on the Willy. The prevailing opinion down there is that the water temp is still too low to start the main migration. That may be the case with the C also.

Counts at the Willamette Falls are well below the 10 year ave.

Fished with Phil Stevens - AKA Mystical Legends . Draino two days - four anglers - five in the box. Slow but not awful.

CR back at 11ft in Vancouver. Optimal temps! Sure wish I was bouncing eggs below bonneville.

I think we will see 5 digit figures crossing in the next few days!

Flows just dropped 3ft at bonneville and the Vancouver gauge is on the drop now too. Should see A big push here real soon I'd imagine.

My buddy and I are fishing Drano with Phil on Monday 05/07. Banking it on Sunday afternoon/evening.

The weather is looking nice. Phil says there are fish to be caught. More on the way.

Hopefully there are a few in the river/lake when we are there.
