i dont care for the Mariners, but i enjoyed watching Kemp and Payton, the X-man and others.... and also love the Hawks...
no bandwagon in me, i wouldnt watch the Mariners for more than 2 innings even if they were in the World Series, i dont care much for baseball anymore... just the legends of the sport...

[Bleeeeep!] david stern and the nba. they lied and stole the sonics from seattle.
haven't watched an nba game since and never will again.
but i'd rather live in western washington without basketball than oklahoma with a championship basketball team.

[quote=redhook]This is a bandwagon city when it comes to pro sports. Been to a Mariners game recently? See how full those seats are They've had 30 plus years to put together a winning team and can't do it, don't see where they should expect much more then bandwagon fans, especially when it costs $200 to take a family to a game and sit in the nose bleed seats. Been about 15 years since I've paid to see a Mariners game, probably never go to another unless I win tickets again. Go Spurs, or anyone else who plays the OKC Sonics.

Why does a team"have" to win?
I like baseball. I'll go to an occasional game, watch games, etc. If the Ms win, fine. If not, I'll criticize. But I do like the game itself, and seeing it played. Actually, I enjoy playing it even more.
I don't like basketball so really don't care if there is a team here or not.
I like the Sounders, glad they win, but the culture they have going is what makes it exciting. It will be interesting to see what happens if they are less successful on the pitch.

For me soccer is one of the most boring sports on the planet. Add in those incessant horns and it's hard to believe there aren't more soccer hooligan type of incidents.

For me soccer is one of the most boring sports on the planet. Add in those incessant horns and it's hard to believe there aren't more soccer hooligan type of incidents. I thought the same--then my son at age 6 started playing soccer in leagues and is turning 9 in a couple days and that is his favorite sport-it really changed my perspective. I fully support it and encourage it-he loves it. Thank god it wasnt figure skating--that just would not have happened. When flipping through on the TV I will actually stop and watch. Such a universal sport. The athletes put any other as far as in shape, endurance put them to shame--NHL players on the next rung of that ladder (but thats my fav sport)-especially the teams in the playoffs right now now to get your panties ruffled about a t-shirt? and a basketball team?

Have they taught him how to dive and fake an injury yet? you do see that in professional soccer-if I was running for 90 minutes up and down a 100yard x 60 yard field I probably would take an injury- not taught, shown or instructed in any way-but then again has not been coached by former NBA player NBA? yea they dont whine or fake or cry foul
