NY is planning a law to make 16 oz and larger soft drinks taboo.
Part of the battle against obesity. As a rider, it has been proposed
the law also stipulates you must wipe your bum from front to back.
NO more blotting.

I'm OK with that as long as the law doesn't apply to beer.

Sounds like purchases of two or more 15oz cups of soda will be going up. Our wise Bored of Stupidvisors banned toys in Happy Meals. McDonalds sales went up 6%.

When they show those clips of those 5 foot 1 & 2 inch 300lb mamma's waddling down the sidewalk (obesity epidemic), those porkers have more than a 16 oz. "pop" problem.
Them bitches need to turn off the TV and take the "feed bag" off their face.

Aunty M,

I was just being sarcastic. The Devil made me write it. I do agree with the sentiment, but that's probably because I'm not one of the too many Americans who are addicted to soft drinks. However I have 4 in the last week or so, way above my 1 every month or two.

Of course there are way more important things for government to work on, but gov't. doesn't have the will to work on important problems because that pisses off too many citizens. So gov't. and citizens strike a happy balance by instead addressing issues that matter the least.

Soda is crap.

40+ grams of simple sugar and various colors and flavors with no nutritional value in every 12 oz can.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good soda here and there..........but it is probably one of the worst dietary choices an individual can make.

When you drink one of those bad boys, the liver gets a shot of an overwhelming dose of sugar. The liver simply can't handle such mega-doses by simple metabolism, so the excess sugar is shunted into other pathways that result in the body producing fat. We can see any fat around our waists, but it's pretty much invisible elsewhere.

The liver itself gets filled with fat and then begins to malfunction. That fatazz liver becomes insulin resistant - which means it simply becomes "deaf" to the hormonal signal it receives from insulin. The pancreas responds by making the hormonal signal louder by making more insulin. Eventually the overworked pancreas gives up the ghost and that's when diabetes happens.

If that isn't bad enough, those fats also circulate in the blood and over time, plug up the arteries. When the coronary arteries get blocked, that portion of heart muscle downstream from the blockage dies as a result of the lack of blood flow. It's heart attack time, boyz and gurlz.

All that being said, I'll have myself a Dr. Pepper or a Coke every now and then. I'm going to die from all of the red meat that I consume anyway, so I'm really not all that concerned.

True.

But chances are, if it tastes good.............it isn't. smile

I've switched mainly to club soda to get a fizz.

If I have one soda a month I'd be surprised (mostly cause that sh!t is poison). I used to like Iced Tea till the monkey butt scare of 2012.

Think I'll stick with barley and rice derivatives...

Pendleton at Safeway 28.99 seemed like another good alternative.

I don't drink enough soda pop to be interested in the hassle of making my own. As few as I drink I'm OK with buying a can of the off-the-shelf-poison like Dr. Pepper, root beer, or Coke. For decades I've considered barely pops to be a legitimate food group compared to soda pop. But sometimes beer is frowned upon (narrow mindedness has a large following) for an on the job lunch, and there is no bottled water around, hence the occasional soda pop.

Does the law preclude diet or sugar free soda pop?

What is the group consensus on that? Poison or okay to consume?

Gotta remember that Grandma was making her own rootbeer in
the era, 38, 39 40 41. Getting to town was along hike in those
days. Packing pops home was work.

Blaming sugar and the color of your meat for diet caused health problems...this is the reason we cant have nice things.
