What are some of your favorite gravel pit targets?

Left behind shotgun shells are fun for smaller targets.

Clay pigeons are cool for medium size targets.

Those exploding targets they sell are fun. They can also be thrown in the air and blasted with a shotgun.

Oh and if there is a safe backdrop, I cannot resist a good mud puddle. The mine 14 and mud = fun

Usually I do not bring any targets of my own, I just shoot peoples trash they have left behind frown

I put flour in a balloon for my daughter. She likes to see something happen when she hits the target. Keeps her interested.

We usually try to find a few plastic bottles and fill them up with water. If you are shooting hollow points they explode pretty good. It is especially fun for beginers to see what happens when they hit it.

Watermelons, pumkins, canteloupe, etc. For really good results you need to use hollow points. A buddy and I once took a bunch of old canned goods out and shot them. That was pretty fun with hollow points. A 125gr hp from a .357sig will do wonders to a can of pumpkin pie filling.
Most of the time I use plastic bottles and cardboard boxes with targets drawn on them.

I agree with liking to see the results when you hit the target, I am still the same way laugh

I forgot about pumpkins, we used to go to the grocery store after Halloween and load up the bed of a 3/4-ton Chevy until it could hold no more. The store just wants to get rid of them. That is allot of fun.

Sky Guy

The propane thing rocks, the small green disposable ones by a bon fire. NOT recommended in a normal shooting pit. This was done on my friend's property with no chance of anything catching on fire.

P.S. The ones we had were not almost empty, we ran out of targets and I pulled a couple of full ones out laugh

Ya those were the days
