I don't have any experience purchasing riflescopes online, and was wondering if anyone out there had ideas on online sources to pick up a Leupold scope. Any thoughts?

Try Cabela's or Bass pro shops. Same thing for your ammo. Cabela's has a pretty good selection of ammo.

I've heard people recommend www.bearbasin.com but I haven't tried it myself.

You can get a good deal on www.ebay.com as well. I've bought from bearbasin with no problems.

e-bay!!!! I am bidding on 2 right now. you can find some great deals. when you know what you want just figure out what you are willing to pay and the rest is really easy!!!

I am looking at savind about $100.00 on each scope. some times you can do better. I just picked up a spotting scope with tri-pod and window mnt. all that at Sportco or Cabelas would have cost me around $1,200.00. I got it all to my house for $555.00 talk about a killer deal!!!!!!! WOW!!

From my experience, you generally can't get a very good deal on quality optics on eBay. Most of the used Leupold scopes I've seen on there end up going for as much or more than you can buy a new one from Bear Basin, or other online optics dealers. I'm sure the occasional good deal can be had, but I doubt if it's worth the hassle. Just order from Bear Basin, or one of the others, and you'll save a lot of money and time. If you have lots of spare time, go ahead and keep looking for a deal on eBay, but you may not find one for quite a while. Everything I've heard is that eBay is great for sellers, but not so great for buyers.

Good points. I've had good luck with some things on e-bay, but for the most part I thought the prices weren't going for as big of a discount as I would have thought (binocs anyway). I'll check out Bear Basin as well. I'm looking for a Vari III in 4.5-14X50, so I think my chances are better from a store than on e-bay.

Thanks again!
