cds We had those algae blooms in Sonoma County last Sept-Oct. Killed thousands of abalone and other mollusks.

It's been a long time ago, but I remember fishing alongside a red bloom like that out in the straits. Fishing was good, but back then fishing was always good. I guess my point is, that it didn't seem to affect the fishing. I could have been underneath it, though.

Neither of the normail shellfish poisning algae's would cause what happened in Sonoma.

that is what i had always thought, when our friend got sick, nothing was out of the norm... water was nice, sunny day (like that matters), having a nice weekend at the cabin with family and friends... then he goes into shock, get him to the hospital, and its paralytic shellfish poisoning... what was weird tho, noone else got sick, and he wasnt allergic to seafood, and still isnt... took him a bit but he made it through...
this was of course on the Canal tho... not the PS
