I was up in Klickatat and Skamania counties over the weekend doing some scouting for deer and elk.

It's very, very dry over there. The private timber lands are all posted "No Trespassing Due To Extreme Fire Danger".

I learned this after missing a couple of signs and hiking around the woods. Very, Very dry. The springs that I am familiar with are almost dry.

Saw more bear crap than in years past. Deer & Elk sign was very minimal.

Trout Lake area dry as a bone, as well.

Didn't go north of Glenwood, but expect it was the same as in the South and to the West.

There's cattle both on private timber land as well as National Forest Land north of Trout Lake.

It's gonna be tough hunting. I'm afraid that if there's no rain......Who knows what may happen.

I'm gonna hold off on getting my tags for the time being.

What's going on in the rest of the State?

I'm going after big mulies over in Eastern Washington so from what I've been told is them things are used to the dry weather.

Over in GMU 554-564-568-572 they are dryer then dry. Real bad. Hope we get some rain before elk season

Hog, did you happen to get over Goldendale way? Is all that area closed off as well? I havn't made it over scouting yet, but if it don't rain I may have to relocate this season.

No, we didn't get over to Goldendale. Went as far as Klikatat. We were told by locals that we know, that all private timber company lands were closed.

There were closure signs every where.

Can't imagine Goldendale being any different.

The National Forest lands were not posted, at least up by Mt. Adams.
