Jigging has a lot of attraction to me. I've been doing it since the '70's when I started with nothing more than tire weights with the clip ground off and ends drilled. Added split rings on both ends with a swivel on one and a treble hook on the other. Shined 'em up with my knife and slayed the Kings.
Then I poured my own pipe jigs (before someone else decided to make a damn dollar and marketing them).
Buzz Bombs caught a lot of fish for me over the years and I thought they did their best work in areas of little current, although in some very high current areas the hooknose Silvers just couldn't lay off of them when cast and retrieved......tremendous fun.
Then darts, then stingers, and then a whole slew of "perfectionist" jigs (like the one in my avatar) that probably catch more fishermen than fish because the ARE beautiful to look at. One thing I've learned over the many years is this......the more real the jig looks, the less work you need to put into jigging. Think about it......a dead, or nearly dead bait fish doesn't dart around.....it may flip occasionally, but mostly it just lies still and drifts with the current. Kings won't spend more energy chasing bait than they get out of it.....Blackmouth and Silvers not so much, but for the big boys, slow it down....take it easy....make it an easy meal.
