You've had a great year Andy! I took a bull a few weeks ago in Idaho (my first). I will try to attach a link.

Andy did you get that with your ML or on the Westside opener yesterday?

Westside opener. My trusty Mossberg 835 strikes again. Federal Hydra-shock sabot slug through a rifled slug barrel.

P.S. Nice bull! From the looks of you has a worse pack out than I did.

Your spot did look pretty flat! I shot mine 3000 feet above camp. Fortunately we had horses for the packing.

Let me preface this by saying that I've been hunting elk for about 40 days over 6 years.....this one I got 15 minutes into the season and it was my first. I'm calling it the "gift elk" I was glassing straight down and to my left (about 4 sq miles of hillside). After about 15 minutes I set my glasses down and turned to my right. There was the bull standing about 175 yards away and looking right at me. This time it was easy but I've put a lot of time in! The best part was the horses. I gutted/skinned etc the elk and had to leave it on the hill for the night. The next day we rode up for about two hours, quartered and loaded and led the horses down for another two hours.

I had a small amount of luck this season,I was drawn for a special permit and was lucky enough to fill it.shot a 6x6 elk.the unlucky part is that I had hiked seven miles from camp and we don't use horses or atvs.

Our pack out trip was 300 yards each way. I just wish I had 300 more feet of rope. If I had a jet sled we could have taken the thing out whole.

Andy,

Don't you know who DOES have a jet sled?!. But then you would've missed out on all the fun of the pack! Sounds like you're lucky you didn't have to wait in Aberdeen, and watch it float under the bridge. By the way, never let the facts get in the way of a good story!

Hey,

I did shoot it, gut, skin, and pack out the head. wink Paul just watched and coughed up blood, lightweight. We'll go back for another one on Wednesday.

I forgot about your dad's boat.

Oh, and we did take one elk out via the river three years ago. Got a few strange looks guiding it down river with a rope to the boat launch.

Isn't there some kind of lifetime limit on the tonnage of game meat that one guy is allowed to extricate from Washington state? the pic only serves to further remind me that I shouldn't have been greedy earlier this year.

Nice job, bud. That's a good looking bull. But seriously, where are the hunt details? And I don't want to hear about how you had to open the screen door the whole way to get an open shot wink

The guy who drew the same deer tag you drew last year (Carl) shot a nice 5X6. Not incredibly monstrous, but very nice. No pics yet, but a nice rack.

WAY TO GO!
