I just got a text from Phill a few minutes ago.
He said it was a wide open king bite today. They started the day with a quadruple header.

Naw. He'll be there early enough for at least two drinks as well as snagging any of the 1st class upgrades......which I *highly* recommend.

For a Buckley guy, he doesn't make a bad 1st class travel companion. thumbs

PS. Hey Robbo, how come that Rafae guy catches all the big fish??? Must be the Pink Spinner he's using. wink

Was it the upgrade, or the "lay over" in the Ketchikan bar????

Note to the wise: DO NOT LEAVE THE GATE AREA after you get off the plane in Ketchikan. There's only ONE bar in the airport, and it's to the immediate left after you get off the plane. Go past the TSA dudes and they won't let you back in!

AK Airlines will "store" your bag for you if you do not immediately claim your bar. Pretty sure you can get someone to call downstairs and secure your check on bag for you.

I recommend that you stay in the bar until about 30 minutes before your flight on Island Air. Keep that buzz going after you get off the plane. thumbs The nice lady at Island Air will mock you just same if you're early or late! Might as well wait until the last minute! Besides, makes the flight to Craig go by pretty quick and Robbo really appreciates drunk morons coming off the flight to be picked up. laugh

PS. Will whomever sits behind Stam on the Island Air flight please be sure to turn his ear phone volume up to DEAF when he's not paying attention. Or, just flick the back of his ear lobe with your finger. Either one will do just fine.

Thanks in advance! Oh and in case I didn't say it before but, goddammitiwishiwasgoing!!!!!

Great fishing and weather right now, alot of kings around and the silver fishing has picked up considerably the last couple days. 62 pounder is leading our derby board followed by numerous 40's. Good luck guys!

Robbo just sent a note to remind everyone to bring their seasick pills. He's says it gonna be a bit lumpy.

Maybe we can make some Tosh type videos.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, but I generally have to use some form of sea sickness meds when in the ocean.

For me at least, the OTC sea sick med stuff either makes you painfully drowsy with cotton mouth and your eyes won't stay focused, or just plain old cotton bout and weird visual issues. Not a big fan of the OTC stuff.

If you don't mind getting razzed on a bit, the prescription Scopalamine Patch is a great solution. It last for 3 days and the side effects (for me at least) were minimal. Some dry/cotton mouth and that's about it. That could also be due to the hangovers one normally wakes up when up there.....

I was able to secure some Scopalamine Pills (Labeled as Scopace) on this last trip up to Craig and I will say that the pills were WAY better than the patch in that:

a) 1 pill lasted all day.
b) I could take it on the ride out
c) No patch.
d) So side effects whatsoever.

Unfortunately, when I tried to get some more pills (I have about 25 left over) my pharmacy said that the product was pulled from the shelf and no longer made.

I don't know how true that is, or why the product would be pulled.

But, if you get motion sick and can find/get a prescription for the Scopace Pills, I highly recommend it. Next option would be the Pansy Patch.

My son and I are heading up to Waterfall on July 21 and was a little worried about motion sickness. Got a prescription for the Transderm SCOP (the patch). The Doc said the pills were available but if one gets sick before taking a pill you might not keep it down and then you are screwed. Both have drawbacks of course. I do get motion sick sometimes on Puget Sound while sailing or fishing, and on the ocean also when conditions are pretty bad. I used a patch many years ago but after we crossed bar (Westport) the ocean was flat and have not used one since. I have gotten motion sick a few times and when I do I am totally discombobulated. I slip into the second stage very quickly. I just dont want to take any chances as this is a trip of a lifetime and dont want to spend 4 days puking from the dock.

What are the conditions up there, the charts make it look fairly protected, but if there is wind and heavy tides could get sloppy I guess.

Oh, the first stage of seasickness is when your afraid you are gonna die, the second stage is when your afraid you are not gonna die!

Sure hope your guys have a great trip, sounds like good times, not just the fishing but all the other activities also. Save some of those fish for us.

I used the patch one trip. Dont think I needed it as the weather was nice but I was lucky and had no noticable side effects.
