South King County Puget Sound Anglers Salmon Derby August 4, 2012

Des Moines, WA May 24, 2012 - We are pleased to announce that the largest Salmon Derby in the Seattle Tacoma area will once again be held by South King County Puget Sound Anglers for the 11th year.

The derby, which draws anglers from all over the Pacific Northwest, will have weigh stations at Des Moines Marina, Point Defiance Marina and Narrows Marina. This year over 400 participants will compete for $20,000 in prizes. Every salmon entered will win a prize. The awards ceremony hosted by Point Defiance Marina will have programs for participants and kids. The kid’s trout pond will be there again, along with other children’s programs and prizes. Food, beverages and entertainment will be enjoyed by all.

“We couldn’t do this without the support of the City of Des Moines Marina, Metro Parks Tacoma and the Narrows Marina said Co-Derby Chair Bill Lee.” “This is the main program we have to raise funds which support fishery enhancement and conservation throughout the year” said Derby Chairman Terry Wiest. Programs supported are Cast for Kids, CCA, WA Youth Conservation Camp, Mid-Puget Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group, Marine Science Scholarships, NW Straits, Harms Way and Wounded Warriors.

The South King County Puget Sound Anglers is hosting a Salmon Derby on Aug. 4.
There will be weigh stations at the Des Moines Marina, Point Defiance Marina and Narrows Marina.
The PSA expects more than 400 anglers to compete for $20,000 in prizes.
The awards ceremony hosted by Point Defiance Marina will have programs for participants and kids, including a trout pond.
