Right... It's one thing to tell civilian employees to cower under a desk if a gunman starts spraying fire in a confined area, say members of Tucson Local 2544/National Border Patrol Council, but to give armed law enforcement professionals the same advice is downright insulting. The instructions from DHS come in the form of pamphlets and a mandatory computer tutorial. “We are now taught in an ‘Active Shooter’ course that if we encounter a shooter in a public place we are to ‘run away’ and ‘hide’" union leader Brandon Judd wrote on the website of 3,300-member union local. “If we are cornered by such a shooter we are to (only as a last resort) become ‘aggressive’ and ‘throw things’ at him or her. We are then advised to ‘call law enforcement’ and wait for their arrival (presumably, while more innocent victims are slaughtered)." -------------------------- That comes from the Union rep, not me. If he's concerned enough to make that statement, then I don't think it's "alarmist" to point it out. It is painfully obvious that all of this is coming from a "civilian" perspective with no real insight into the LE side of things. To reference your provided quotes, why would "they" be instructed to wait for law enforcement if law enforcement has been trained to run the other way? Implying that the govt is facilitating shooting galleries and allowing unimpeded victimization of the innocent is, well, the work of an alarmist fond of conspiracy theories.

ICE/HLS and the US government is too busy shutting down websites that stream sports and taking possible steriod users to court to worry about something like drug smugglers from Mexico... when 10 of the agents are found dead hanging from a bridge, they might start doing things differently....

At my facility, everyone is required to take a course on what to do in the event of a chemical spill in the warehouse. That course tells EVERYONE to leave the building and notify the proper authorities in the event of a spill.
Two of us have specialized training in what to do in the event of spill. Our training doesn't say the first thing we should do is leave the building............because get this............we've been trained to deal with spills. Would the company fire me if the first thing I did in the event of a spill was to evaluate what spilled first, before leaving, and wound up getting poisoned? Maybe, but then they'd have to explain the specialized training I received, and how they washed that with the training course everyone else took.
And gee, Jerry.............you wouldn't think you'd have to tell people to leave the building in the event of a chemical spill, either, but my company does exactly that. That way, if some dumbsh!t goes out to the warehouse to take a sniff and passes out on the floor, the company can say they were told not to do that. It's called avoiding liability.

Do you live inside a cave? Close, and quite happily I might add.

Spend more time outside, away from all of it, and less time looking at things like the newspaper, tv, and computer.
Life isn't so bad with your head in the sand sometimes, as long as you find the right sand box that is.
