What about the folks that work on weekends? The ones that work nights?
I like the fact that it opens on a specific date each year, that way I can plan ahead and if it is important enough to me I CAN take vaction to fish the opener.

Doesn't the 9/10 opener happen every year on the 15th? Makes it easy to plan out in advance for vacation or gives you time to work on that flu bug.

I agree. Easier to plan ahead. I took Monday and Tuesday off on vacation to fish and would do it again in a heartbeat. Nobody out there (at least where I was fishing) and lots of fish to catch. Only complaint if I had one was that I couldn't crab yesterday but we caught enough over the weekend to keep me from tying a noose...

To further qualify the "Sultan" status.

Smelt, Halibut, Crab all have partial week closings with at least one weekend day open each week.

Why should salmon be different?

As far as the "What about the people who work weekends?" type argument.......
Try asking...."What works for the most?" and moving in that direction?

Something you opportunists may want to consider....leaving all the good fishing for the retired, self employed, unemployed, out of school, etc fishermen will work very well for me very soon......so shall I just ignore the fact that it is unfair, because it'll work for ME?

It's a Blue Finned TunaCod, which only run in the Skokomish River.

The crapper of it all is that it's only open on Thursday nights, between 8 and 9pm, which is when I watch American Idol.

I hate this state's regs.

Ok, Slab blows off a little steam because the state doesn't set the opener around his job schedule. I guess they should have called him so he could check his calendar.

I am retired and I really don't care when they open any season. I go during the weekday to avoid the crowds. I wish I was fishing out there right now, but then the state didn't call me to check whats going on in my life that prevents me from being there now.

However, I will be on the water at odark30 next Tuesday. But if the weather keeps me on shore or my boat breaks down you can bet I am going to whine on this board because it messed up my schedule.

Slab, I hear you, but the fish really don't care about a weekday or a weekend. Just fish when you can and enjoy.
