Look'n good!

Yeah, welcome to my life of fishing. Two drift boats and two sleds later I now have neither, wasn't worth having any around. First if was the Nisqually, than South Fork Nooksack, than Cascade River and Nooksack and Skagit and Sauk and finally the Fraser. I now have a spare room full of fishing gear and basically no home water to fish, at least any good water. Last trip was back in January and if I want fish I've got to buy it at the store. I now eat a lot of chicken. I guess I should change my name to chickenbreath?

Nice grocery shopping! Wet enough up here for you guys?

I am headed there next weekend! Now, you have my blood pressure raised today.

Making lemonade out of lemons !

To think it's come to this. Instead of hiking, wading, and casting, I spent the weekend fishing out of my boat, trolling big flashy chrome stuff, never made a single cast, and steering the kicker. My friend said it's called "azz fishing" or maybe it's "gas fishing" as you sit on your azz burning gas driving the boat around the lake trying to snag a salmon. But sockeye do turn out ever so well on the BBQ. I'm trying to take some solace in that.

It always amazes me that we can talk about the decline of one type of salmon while taking large numbers of the others. Is the decline of kings in Alaska a message we aren't receiving? Sure looks that way. Just saying.

That may be in the case for some areas but not where the Doc is. That river is already in the target escapement range for what the system can handle and will most likely blow way past the upper limit (for reds). They specifically raised the limits to try to manage it and are encouraging anglers to harvest their 6 per.

Doc, how are the KRC guides doing with the closure? I would imagine many have bugged out of there by now.

We'll be there later this week, can't wait.

I like the Predator's row. Haven't been on the Kenai for several years and am wondering where that is and is it on the main river or in a slough just off?

And I thought you should just cancel your trip as the King closure!
