Yes, that's a King Bolete. And a big one too. It's a bit over-mature, particularly if it's riddled with holes from fly larvae. But you won't find a better tasting mushroom anywhere in the world.

It's a rare occasion that I've eaten both fresh salmon and fresh king bolete in the same meal. But when that happens, it's a memorable event. Nothing goes better with fresh salmon than fresh king boletes (or perhaps Chanterelles).

She hasn't inherited any of my double-handers just yet, but she's off and running with Speycasting a single-hander. Taught her the circle and single Spey while swinging for tidewater pinks from the bow of our Kenai sled. It didn't take long before she was hitting the far bank.... and hooking up! Fighting them with a single-action direct-drive reel was a bit foreign and awkward at first, but she was up to the challenge. Lots of aggressive chrome-bright salmon provided many repeat opportunities to polish her newfound skills.

I see you weren't backtrolling the main channel anymore. It hurts when you're called out by Mr. XXL himself.
