Steve with a couple Tuesday

Thursday's fish with secret flasher and hootchie

Looks like a better Thursday fish (location intentionally left vague)
Didn't see many fish in the moocher hole, but just coasted by twice.

The guy in that "bathtub boat" is a buddy of mine.I grew up where the pic was taken, his house was a couple down from my parents house. That old Livingston has been about 6 different colors since he bought it in the early '80s. The entire inside has been cut out chasing down leaks from being drug up and down the beach for 30 years.

We got about a 14lb Chinook last night and spent about 20 minutes fighting what we thought was going to be a huge king, ended up being about a 30lb halibut.

He is a damn good fisherman. I always enjoy talking to him on the beach and watching him jig up some fish from his boat.

Left Edmonds around 7:30 thinking about Midchannel, but I was also thinking about the wind coming up for the trip home, so I stayed closer.
7:30-8:30 on the west side of Possession, no action.
8:30-11:00 trolling with the tide from Point No Point to Skunk Bay. One nice takedown that didn't stay on long on a white flasher and white coho killer on the bottom about half way up the troll.
11-1 mooching at Point No Point and I came up with this nice 13 lber. (Sorry about the cheesy pic. Headed to Tofino the first weekend of August, so I've got to practice my fishing trip poses.)

We probably passed by at some point, fished Skunk Bay all morning nada, saw one caught. On the bottom with coho killers.

We were right there with ya Tdickenson. My buddy finally convinced me to run up a little further and we got one off of Norwegian Point.

Another pass by the point and we hooked up on what was the biggest fish of the week. However he came right to the boat and laid there. I made an ill advised stab with the net before fully getting my wits about me (or as much as is possible wink ) and that was all she wrote, off into the port rigger gear and see ya. We then went on up to FWP and made one pass back and got another runt.

Not to complain, but 75% of the fish I have seen have been 10# runts. Are there some bigger ones out there?

How far is the run from Edmonds to Mid-Channel?

Nice fish! I sure didn't see nets flying today, so any fish looks pretty big, but I haven't heard about anything over about 15. Edmonds to Midchannel is about 21 miles one way. Doable for me if it's calm, but it can be quite a beating if the wind comes up.

I think of PT/Midchannel as 30 miles from Edmonds, but I checked and it's 24 -- at least according to the Edmonds website:

Sleddder, Kev, and I went 5 for 8 yesterday. Saw decent action at first light and through the first half of the outgoing. Marked quite a few fish traveling mid water column.

Hit one hatchery and one wild Friday morning. Didn't get enough fishing time in though. Ended up hiding in a bay, when a storm cell would pass through.

24 miles on a nice day doesn't sound too bad. Sea Kitten will get up and go just right about that speed in nice conditions or following 2' slop & chop like this afternoon. Into it? 12-15 maybe. And you might lose a filling or two.

By the time I get ready to try to get up to mcb the fish will be here in BIG numbers. I hope.

Started a new thread for week 2.

See ya there!
