i dont agree with them personally...
the school fine, not sure about, but why take away scholarships for future kids, take away all the wins for the team, that the kids gave them, not allow the kids now, and in the next 4 years to be able to play in a bowl game, what happens if they go undefeated?
personally, i think the Dean, and everyone involved with Sandusky should be fined, fired, and investigated...
dont punnish the kids for something some old jackwagons did... thats not fair...

Mark Emmert claims no program can be too big to fail yet he goes on to explain they couldn't give them the death sentence because they are too big to fail (would hurt the community, the band, etc). Huh?

This is nothing new, all NCAA sanctions punish the current players. USC received sanctions 4 years after Bush was gone. You vacate the wins because (1) It removes Peterno from the record book (2) They gained an competitive advantage by cover this up. Do you really think PSU would have got the recruits from 98-2011 if this had come out (granted very few of those players were any good) but no one would want to play for Pedophilia University.

Who is this supposed to satisfy? The kids who were subjected to Sandusky? Well the whole thing fails miserably. It's not about the students, nor about the kid's football team. It's about one coach for sure, and maybe about a second.....but that really hasn't been made very clear to me. Paterno, I understand, reported what he saw to a superior.....now they are saying that wasn't enough? Did I get that right?
Maybe he should have done more. I believe he himself said that, but I wonder if anyone else would have "done more" after reporting it?
This reeks of someone scape goating Penn State for reasons other than addressing the real problem.
I'm not minimizing the impact of what happened, but sometimes....maybe a lot of times.....there is no way to make up for a failure that unjustly affects others. Life happens and it ain't fair....tough stuff to live with, but a helluva lot of people have to do just that.
The whole thing sucks.....and I don't think Paterno got a fair shake in the deal. My 2

The message is certainly clear.
Don't facilitate the rape of children. If you do, the punishment will be severe.

Dan, what should the punishment be for teachers who screw their students?

I'm not sure what teachers screwing students has to do with the conversation, because that isn't what took place here.
The school facilitated the crime. Therefore the school is going to be called to the carpet for it. Is it fair that current students and players will suffer for it? Of course not, but it wasn't fair to the kids involved that the school swept it under the rug, either.
The current USC players are being punished for what occurred at SC when Reggie Bush was there. Not fair, but what do you propose they do...........punish Reggie Bush now?
It's NCAA justice, and that's the way it works.

Well let me see. If I was a PSU football player I could (1) stay and play (2) Transfer without sitting out a year (3) Not play football and continue to go to school on scholarship. Not really seeing much actual punishment for the players. I know getting a free education is such punishment. Have you watched PSU football in recent history? They were not going to go to a BCS game (or playoff now) and most of those guys are not 5 star recruits.

I'm sure Pete would be intimidated by the NCAA.

Grown men representing an institution had the opportunity to save many kids from the torment of a monster. They made the wrong choice when there was only one choice to make. Absolutely no excuse. None.
Burn it to the ground, is what I would have done. They got off easy.

Sorry about the collateral damage, but that's the way it goes.
Many thousands of innocent spouses and children lose their meal ticket, spouse, and parent when criminals are jailed every day. It may not be fair, but that's the way it is.
Fish on...

These young men are victims of the Sandusky scandal, too. The UW should show its compassionate side and help as many of them out as possible. A couple offensive linemen and two, or three, defensive players... is that asking too much? GO DAWGS!
