I loved that guy.

About twelve years ago I stood in line for hours, with my oldest daughter on my shoulders, for a chance to meet him. I was the last guy of a long line of people at the end of a hot summer day. He shook my daughters hand and smiled but she was bored LONG before that and i told him she doesn't even know who he is... I stood in that line so I could meet him, not her. He said, very matter of factly; "Kid, it has been a long day, I dont really care and I am going home."

He totally blew me off.

What is remarkable though is that I still don't even blame him. It was hot and it was a long line and fans like me are a dime a dozen. I STILL love that guy, I hope he is in a better place now and his family is at peace.

I heard that most of the episodes were lost somehow. it is a shame that kids now won't get the benefit of his zany sense of humor.

I'm a Patches Pal.

Still makes me smile when I recall Gertrude chasing JP up the local HS auditorium aisle. JP ran past my aisle seat, and as a five-year-old-force-to-be-reckoned-with, I jumped into the aisle to protect JP. Got picked up and set down without Gertrude missing a stride in 'her' determined pursuit.

That City Dump crew made lots of memories.

RIP JP.....

Done! He is well deserving to have a street named after him. Fremont seems the appropriate place. grin

I won tickets to the Circus 1 morning. Up to that point in my life, hearing my name on JP Patches show was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

I saw JP a few times in the last 5 years at this or that fair. He always brought a smile to my face. At one fair not so long ago, he touched the nose of a cute little girl and said now "you're a bunny rabbit" she started bawling so JP asked her what was wrong "i don wanna be a bunnyrabbit" It was hilarious.

RIP JP

JP & Gertrude... True Icons. A busy mothers dream come true for dealing with kids before and after school. I'd ride my bicycle home from Medina Elementery cuz I got myself kicked off the school bus for bad behavior and It was Cap't. Puget , then JP, and then Stan Boreson, that crazy accordian player from over there in Ballard.

I had a crazy uncle named Inar, a commercial fisherman with the biggest hands I ever saw. Always a hoot to have at the anual Christmas Eve Norweigion dinner cuz he loved to pull a cork on free liquor. He loved Stan.

First dog was Slo Mo, was it not? Named after the Hydroplane Slo Motion (or so I thought)?
