That's been a part of their platform for the past 20 years or so. I doubt very seriously they'll be getting 38 states to go along with that.

Everyone will run with it.
Just a tool to get the libtard base to come out from under their rocks and cast a vote for Obama.
Fish on...
Todd And NOT get their guy elected. Unless the US dollar collapses between now and election day, Obama hasn't got much to worry about. Did the Republican platform turn you into a single-issue voter? Part of Reagan's platform was a constitutional ban on abortion and you saw how that worked out. The Gallup poll I posted said an overwhelming majority of voters were opposed to a constitutional ban back in '05, so it's no surprise attitudes haven't changed since that time. What has changed is national pro-life opinions have surpassed pro-choice by 9 points. This is the latest distraction from what the voters feel is the most important issue in this election. http://www.gallup.com/poll/1675/most-important-problem.aspxThe dollar won't collapse, but the economy isn't going to get better; that's what voters think is the most important issue. Unemployment rose in 44 states recently, including 9 battleground states. Wring your hands and worry about four more years of Obama all you want..abortion isn't the issue that will get him re-elected.

The thought has crossed my mind on occasion and I have come to the conclusion I don't know every f'n thing. What do you think will be the deciding factor in this election? Will it be abortion or the economy?

[quote=Dan S.] It's about peoples perceptions Hank. Right now, the majority don't "perceive" Romney/Ryan as being particularly decent or worthy of office. They do perceive Romney/Ryan better able to handle the economy though.

Maybe it's time we adopt a policy of retroactive abortions? That might throw a scare into you and Lilly.

What will determine the election?
Hard saying at this point. The way the economy looks right now, Ronmey should be BURYING Obama............but guess what - he isn't.
He isn't because the GOP is full of dipsh!ts who think oultlawing abortion even in cases of rape should still be part of their platform.
Good luck with that, you f'n goats, and we'll see you in 2016 when Hillary wipes the streets with whatever candidate saddles up with that idiotic platform.

The GOP continues to fail, hard...it's like they're doing it on purpose.
First, when they have the best chance in decades to unseat an incumbent Democratic President...look at the collection of clowns they put together to run on the Republican ticket.
Second, all they have to do is get out of the way and let the economy sink Obama all by itself...and instead Romney can't help sounding like a lying jackass every time he opens his mouth, at least when he's not busily trying to prove that he's more out of touch with regular Americans than a martian would be.
Third, just in case they haven't made themselves the headlines enough, making everyone forget about high unemployment and a stagnant economy...they pick Paul Ryan as VP hopeful. Really?
And now...when they want everyone to forget about everything else in the country except the economy...they loudly and triumphantly run out the abortion issue. Again. The one that the great majority of Americans think they are wrong on.
They've got the fool in Missouri telling us his very educated medical opinion that a woman can't get pregnant from a "legitimate rape", so there's no need to allow abortions in the case of rape or incest, and you've got the GOP platform committee running banning abortions up the flagpole again.
Of course, in typical GOP Orwellian DoubleSpeak, you will hear all the fucktards on Fox (not to mention the fucktards here) telling everyone that Obama is trying to distract everyone from the issue of the economy.
Again...when you Republicans let the TeaParty co-opt your party so you could get the votes you wanted from them, you handed them the keys to your car and got in the back seat...and now you are careening wildly back and forth on the wrong side of the freeway bouncing off of everything other than the one issue that could win the race for you.
You will lose this election...the most eminently winnable one in a looonnnggg time...and it will be entirely your own fault.
Way to go.
Fish on...
Todd

He isn't because the GOP is full of dipsh!ts who think oultlawing abortion even in cases of rape should still be part of their platform. Scroll down that list of most important issues for voters and find where abortion ranks. Mitt Romney just issued this statement urging Representative Todd Akin to end his Missouri Senate bid: As I said yesterday, Todd Akin’s comments were offensive and wrong and he should very seriously consider what course would be in the best interest of our country. Today, his fellow Missourians urged him to step aside, and I think he should accept their counsel and exit the Senate race. The NRSC is not exactly quiet about its desire to see Todd Akin withdraw and another candidate, one not damaged by a horrific statement that implies he believes that there are “legitimate” rapes and not legitimate ones, to take his place. Among the comments the NRSC is spotlighting this morning: Radio/TV Host Sean Hannity urged Akin yesterday to reconsider running and reminded him that “elections are bigger than one person” Radio Host Mark Levin similarly urged Akin to step aside saying this race is far too important to risk losing to the Democrats. National Review’s Jim Geraghty observes, Who Isn’t Calling for Akin’s Withdrawal? Claire McCaskill & Planned Parenthood. Columnist/Radio Host Dennis Prager penned a column for Townhall.com calling on his fellow pro-life leaders to join him in disavowing Akin’s remarks. Columnist Charles Krauthammer on Fox News last night called Akin “toxic” and said “he’s got to go” Radio Host Hugh Hewitt tweeted – “If Akin drops out and GOP wins Senate, he has career. If he stays in and GOP doesn’t win Senate, infamy and injury to prolife cause” Author Ann Coulter penned a column in Human Events calling on Akin to do the right thing and step aside for the good of the pro-life movement National Review editorial board called on Akin to step aside, writing in part, “Akin is a stalwart conservative and an honorable man, we regret to say that he inspires no such confidence” Wall Street Journal editorial board also called on Akin to step aside, writing in part, “Having uttered one of the more offensive and ill-informed comments in recent years, Mr. Akin could cost his party a seat it is favored to win this November and thus possible control of the Senate.” The Tea Party Express called on Akin to step aside saying “It is critical that we defeat Senator Claire McCaskill in November, but it will be too difficult to achieve that with Todd Akin as the conservative alternative.”
