Went fishing with th e boys today out of Westport. Had a great time, caught lots of sea bass, but salmon were disappointing. Boat landed maybe 8-10 salmon total, two keepers, a king of 18lbs and a 6lb silver.

My youngest, Ryan, hooked a king right at the end of the trip, took him down one side of the boat from the bow to the stern, only to get ripped off his line by a sea lion, 9.5 miles off shore.

Ryan did get the best catch of the day though.

Looks just like the one my buddy hooked in the beak when it went after his bait. He reeled it in, I took the hook out and measured it, but it wasn't a keeper. It lived to try to steal bait again when it forgets about sharp hooks.

My catch of the day was Andy's special delivery of smoked goods to the Reel Tight!!!

Speak up Andy.... what going on in the tuna zone???

Team "three crackers and a pro (Kenny)" did very well today. We headed out of Westport this morning and went out 40+ miles. 2 hour trip out in calm water (relatively), as we were able to move along at 20-24 kts.

Dropped our gear in at 8:23am. First triple was around 8:25am. The bite was hot right when we got there, and we had 17 fish after about 2 hours. Two hours later we had 25, we hit "bingo fuel" and we headed in.

Thanks Bantam for the the primer on what to do this morning. We actually fished around you guys for about an hour, looked like you had a good bait stop for a while there. (Hint for you tuna fans out there, go out with Bantam if you want to bring home some good numbers of tuna.)

I'll upload a video of one of our triples early on tomorrow. I'm barely functional at the moment. Tired, but very happy.
