We went over to Klickitat county for the opening weekend.

Spotted one turkey right of the bat Friday morning as we were walking in. Couldn't tell for sure if it was a tom. Backed off, set up decoy & called without any luck. Lots of turkey sign in the area.

Next morning we raised a gobbler right off the start. Went chasing him (them?) down a canyon. The wiley sucker just wouldn't come in.

The 3rd day we didn't hear thing. Great time was had even so.

Saw a mountain goat over there. Couldn't believe my eyes. Talked with a local guy who said that they had planted some goats a while back. First that I had heard of this.

Well, might be up next weekend. (If my legs hold up!)

My son and I went to Okanogan for the opener. We saw birds everyday and even managed to get a couple jakes. It was our first time turkey hunting and his first real hunt.
We didn't see many hens though and were told that they were already setting. Tons of people up there. If we go again I will try to get access to private land.

confused

You couldn't access any public land in Okanogan County? That's odd, it must be about 75% public land over there.

Thanks HA.
That was supposed to be access to private land. There were tons of guys over there and alot of them were yelping/gobbling and stalking each other.

Anyway, how's the bear hunting? Have you been out much? I got a big one the other day and will try to post a pic/story soon.
