have a bunch of #4 lead shot left over from the old days of duck hunting , can i use this stuff ?? seeing alot of loads made just for turkey hunting and alot of jacked up prices, would like to use the old stuff up if i could . thanks

You could but I favor the newer copper plated lead #4's. When you buy the good turkey loads, the have a lot more power and are a real "hot" load.

I think a full choke is needed for turkeys & you can't shoot steel in a full choke. If ya get em in close enough the #4 should be fine. They are tough birds & head shots required. Like elk, keep shooting till they go down.

Well...you don't need a full choke to get a full choke pattern with steel shot. You can use an improved cylinder or modified choke with steel shot and get as tight of a pattern as a full choke with lead. So I wouldn't say the fact that you can't use a full choke is a reason to not use steel shot for turkeys. Lead shot does have an advantage at longer ranges because it doesn't lose its velocity as quickly as the lighter steel shot does.
