ok guy's how many of you hunt the vail tree farm out in mckenna wa. if you hunt there what is the biggest buck you have taken from there. my best blacktail from there to date is a 5x4 twenty one inches wide and nineteen high last day of late buck two years ago. i shot a nice 4x4 out there this last year. so come on guys lets hear about the big ones

well i have yet to get one out of there yet. i've been hunting it for 3 years now and have seen alot of monster bucks.

2 years ago right dark i had a white blazer pull up and scare off a 5x6 with a drop tine. i missed a 3x3 2 years ago cause my flip mount scope wasn't all the way clipped. and seen a 5x5 and a 3x3 sparin the last day of the season last yearm but it was to dark to shoot.

my buddy had his rifle missfire at a 2x4 last season like 100ft from the game check. stupid remington pump rifles. that happened to him 2 years ago in greenwater at a 5x6 bull elk too.

i'll get one this year. i promise

This is my first year rifle hunting for blacktails and was told the tree farm was a good place to go. Can someone pm me some info to get started with? Just something to put me into a good starting location and I can scout from there. Thanks.

I did the Ft. Lewis area with bow last year.

I hunted it for about 10years until they closed all but the one gate...biggest was a 2x3 that had his nose up a does rear....never knew what hit em. It's a nice big area with some really huge animals. Biggest blacktail in Wa came from Lewis County.

Rick, I'll pm ya.

Been awhile since I was down in that area, and it was all locked up. Is it open to the public, or is it a fee acess area? where's the access point? Thanks

I believe you can access many still via on foot or bike but ATV's i'm sure are a no-no.....I think the only drive in spot is via the Vail cutoff road. Doesn't open particularly early and it closes in the evenings...no camping is allowed. Get a map and you'll see the 2000 line access point. All this info subject to correction...been couple years since i've entered. Good luck!

you enter at the vail cut off road. it opens at five am and usually closes at like seven pm. i think it seems to change from year to year. it is free to hunt there no access fees. and it is only open on the weekends for rifle hunters only. the regs for this area is spike or better on the bucks. need any other info get ahold of me and i will help if possible.
