hey,
there guys just wondering what caliber of guns you all hunt with. I use a ruger ss 338 win mag or a 50 cal muzzleloader. Those are my favorite two rifles. What are yours.

I went from a BAR .270, to a Tikka Stainless .270WSM. Love it, but the 3 mulies it took this year hated it!!!!

Savage 270, CZ in 6mm Rem, and Browning A-bolt 338 win mag. That about handles the rifles at the moment. I think I need more. ;\)

Remington 700 .270, bought 30-odd years ago with paper route money, has taken lot's of game and is dear to my heart....recently picked up a Ruger 77 .270 that now has 2 deer for 2 shots....also a .50 cal T/C White Mountain Carbine that got my doe last year....love it's small size/weight, it's also taken elk, but I think if I were more serious about the elk I'd get a .54...."Power-Belt" bullets rule! For optics on my modern weapons I like Burris or Redfield scopes, 4x or 2x7. Frankly, I see little use for anything more than say, 6 power. I hunt my whitetails on 3x and my muleys on 4x or 5x.

I've always thought that would make an excellent blacktail gun for hunting timber.

I shoot a vanilla Savage in .270win.

The Deerslayer I have is the new model they came out with a few years back with the rotary magazine like the 10/22, but less capacity. It is number #239 to come off of the line and I have taken two deer and 5 or 6 coyotes with it, and my nephew got his first deer with it.

The hot Hornady loads in 240 and 300 grain weights are perfect for deer, and you don't feel the recoil at all. Load a single round at a time, with none in the magazine, and it is a perfect gun for my boys to use when they get their first deer.

It is a good 100-150 yard gun. Perfect for the timber.

I'm with Moe - I shoot a model 700 BDL in .270. I went through a few different rifles before getting to this one - it's been a great gun for everything from javelina to elk, although I mainly deer hunt.

Deer I use my Model 700 Mtn rifle in .280, Great gun. For Elk the past few years I have been carrying my Remington Classic in .300 WBY another great shooter with handloads. Looking at buying a .257 Roberts for deer hunting, if nothing else just to have a decent reason to buy another gun.
