Has anyone ever had to send some waders back to have warranty work? I am interested in hearing experiences and the validity of their warranties. It appears that I have some leaks on the inseam and was considering warranty work from them

Thanks

make sure you wash your gear before you send it back.

Funny i just posted a thread asking for new wader advice. Simms would not warranty my G3's after the booties fell apart at the seams after 1 season. Nice guys but their warranty is a joke.

As Martie said, make sure they are clean.
Contact them before sending.

Mine have been back twice.
Once for compression leaks where they replaced the booties to the newer style.
Second time was for a leak at the bootie-pant leg connection.
They said that they couldn't fix them and could they "recycle" them for me ?
Fawk no ! Send 'em back.
Which they did along with the dreaded "Red Stamp" which means no more warranty work.

That was two seasons ago...I fixed the leak with Aqua Seal.

They are "Guide Weights" bought in 2000 and primarily used in summer.
Still going strong.

Next pair might be Dan Bailey or Redington.

I have had trouble with Simms honoring thier warrenty. Will not buy from them again. I currently own two pairs of thier waders. One pair I sent to them and got them back not repaired with a note with an imcomplete sentence. I called them, they were not helpfull. Never again.

simms are terrible...

go dan bailey and get more for your money and support a company that trusts in their own product enough to honor their warranty.

i sent in an old pair of bailey waders that were past their life, the wear done to the wader showed that it was used so heavily that the warranty didnt cover it, so they gave me half the retail price of those towards any pair...

i was happy with this considering my waders looked like they were in a war... there wasnt many seams that didnt have aqua seal on them and the over all look of the material looked super worn out.

the guy on the phone had to apologize for chuckling because he said it was one of the most worn out pair of waders he had ever seen.
he wad dumbfounded when i told him i only wore them for 16 months and didnt use them may-october...
they dont make waders for some of the hiking i do.

Yep, hiking kills 'em fast.
We pack in and put 'em on streamside.
Downside is you can't spot fish along the way.

I've worn out one pair of boots so far with these (Simms) waders.
That's pretty good, I think.
Probably won't buy again due to the culture change in their warranty department.

I have always used sock liners on the outside of the neoprene booties to deflect some of the wear away from the booties.
Seems to work and also makes putting the boots on a little easier.
I think that these are the ones I've got....

I'm 10.5/11 and bought the XL for over the booties.
They're tough....using same the pair since '96.

$200 pair of sims? Where?
Redington. They will last as long or longer than any other wader, and they won't give you crap for sending them in for repair without washing them first.....
