Been hunting deer with a muzzle loader for 12 or so years, so I'm used to having only one shot. Been thinking of getting either the Contender or Encore system. Pros or cons with either system? Want stainless.

For a rifle system.............Encore Pro Hunter all the way

Stronger action, awesome barrel/caliber selection and nice choices as far as furniture for the action/barrel.

I have Encore Pro Hunter barrels from 17 HMR all the way to 416 Rigby.

They are comfortable to shoot and extremely accurate.

There is nothing wrong with Contenders....the Encore is simply and updated version.........IMO

Agreed! The Encore Pro Hunter is a nice update and a great system.

The only con in Washington is that (unless they make a special NW edition like some of the ML manufacturers) they are 209 ignition, closed breach (not exposed to the elements) so they are not legal to hunt with on a muzzleloader hunt if that is the season you are wanting to hunt. Could use it for modern seasons though.
