I'm sure there are some good jig tie people in the business but if they:

1. Use Vinyl paint....just lasts better, doesn't chip.

2. Hooks.....Owner, Gami's, or the top of the line Mustad.

The end product is probably better, in my opinion

Tight lines........

I don't buy them anymore, but when I did I only bought brands that used vinyl paint. You'll lose the jig long before the head will ever chip.

Exactly, I like brad's because of the vinyl paint, and first bite because of the metal heads.

Neither are going to chip.

Over the Edge Tackle has some nice innovative designs IMO.

Tiemyown, but if you want pretty, Twitch made me some that match or are better looking than any I have seen. I'll be using those before I go to my own tied jigs this winter.

Crack is more durable as it is not water soluble like cocaine. Might be worth a try.

New steelhead crack rock bead body jigs, they can't eat just one.

John's Jigs work well. I don't lose enough to make it worth tying them, too many other demands on my time.

I tie my own now exclusively but i gotta give Twitch mad props... That dude can tie "anything" and make it look good...
As far as commercial stuff goes, First Bite Jigs would be number 1 for Schlappen jigs. Kramer Tackle is probably the best when it comes to "fishy" jigs while incorporating rubber leg materials. The rubber legs definitely give another added action that has proven to be to much for fish on more than a few occasions for me. Finally Bee Lee jigs are/were good when he was selling em around 2.00. The only thing i didn't particularly like about his is that i feel he uses one to few schlappen feathers when palmering and they don't have the truly big "buggy" action that i look for in a Winter steelhead jig.
The most important thing IMO is using top quality components... Matzuo, Owner or Mustard hooks, Kevlar thread/W head cement, Vinyl paint or brass beads and good feathers from companies like Hareline Dubbin. If you start with good materials, like anything, the end result is usually better... Now i pretty much run brass beads from First Bite. I like the sleek look of them and the fish don't care if its painted or not IMO. They don't scratch and will look good for the lifetime of the jig.

First time I ever tied on a brads jig it fell apart within the first 3 casts. Ive only used brads once since and thats because it was free.
Aero have never done me wrong, but ive had better luck on odd, off brand jigs ive bought at gas stations or found in my dads fishing dresses. haha

Hard to argue the effectiveness and functionality of a good fishing dress.

But I would argue that you are overstating that one of Brad's jigs is falling apart in 3 casts. Unless you caught 3 chums on those 3 casts, or something like that.

If you want a high quality jig with owner hooks and top materials from hareline and spirit river, then you should try my buddy jigs. This kid can tie like hes been tying since the early 40s lol. Im pretty sure he wont mind giving some samples out. He is always looking for people to test his jigs out. His name on here is jswiberg pm him im sure he wont mind.

I bought a huge sack of Beau Mac SMJ's back in the day, and I'm still fishing them. The cerise, cersise/black, and pink/white are the deadly trio. I hardly use anything else.

I don't get my undies twisted about head chips, either. What do you figure the chances are the fish even notices sh!t like that? Only fishermen get uptight about chipped heads, fish don't seem to.

Nope. no fish, or snags. If i remember correctly it was the first cast. Probably a fluke, but none the less it was weak and i dont care if you believe me because it happened and you weren't there to say any different.
