I shot a turkey yesterday in the late fall hunt and want to cook it for T'giving. I've never cooked a wild turkey before, but have heard that you can't cook them the same way as your typical butterball because they dry out. Any suggestions on how to cook one? Was thinking about deep frying it to keep in the moisture. Thoughts? Thanks for the help!

I've done the deep fry thing and it worked great.
I've also done them in the oven. I did it at 450 until the internal temp reached 165. You can put a can of thawed frozen appple juice concentrate in the vent and it will both help to flavor the bird and keep it juicy. Last advice is to cook the bird upside down (breast down) until about 15 minutes before it's done then flip it over to brown the breast.
Enjoy.

WSU - yup, we wound up going north. My dad had a few places to hunt near Colville. Given the small amount of time we had to hunt, I was concerned about having time to find permission in the palouse. Long story short, the Colville places didn't work out too well. Still good to get up there and explore though - saw some really nice bucks in the back of a few trucks.

Seastrike - thanks for the advice. I've got my dad's turkey to do as well, so maybe I'll do one both ways. I'd like to cook one in the oven just to see what it's like first hand.
