Has anyone out there been fishing either river over the past few days ? If so any luck ? I will be floating it this weekend along with half of the northwest and would like a recent report. Also has everyone sent in their contributions to BAN, they need the money now to get the word out. BAN phone number is 425 235-3810. At least get a few petitions signed and sent in.Everyone should at least do that much. No amount of money is to small, you can pledge by the month if that helps.

I drifted the Sauk on Wednesday, 3-17, from the Suiattle confluence to the gravel bar below the Government Bridge. The water level and flow were great, but the water was very "glacial", with visibility of a foot or less in the morning. It cleared considerably in the afternoon the furhter we got from the confluence (though the Suiattle was dumping in clear).

Took one spawner buck about ten pounds. Saw one other drift fisherman who got two, one small and one decent sized.

All in all the action was suprisingly slow.

Good luck!

There are good numbers of fish in the river, but I'm afraid we're gonna have to deal with "glacial" conditions from here out. As long as the days are warm and long, which tends to be the case most of the time in April, the river is going to have that tint to it. Last years low water conditions were an exception to this rule, but this is how it is quite often in the spring. It can be great for flyfishing, though.
