Letter received from Debbie Regala
forwarded to me from Ed. Thanks Ed

Thank you for contacting me regarding the closure of Reiter Pond Rearing
Facility. I appreciate you contacting my office regarding this issue.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife has struggled this past year with a huge
budget deficit. It has had to cut many positions, including some very
needed enforcement officers. With a deficit as large as this one, many
difficult decisions about cuts had to be made. These budget decisions
included making cuts to hatchery facilities. I did make an inquiry to the
department asking for their response to your concerns about the closing of
the facility. Attached is a copy of their response.

The Fish and Wildlife Commission has the authority for making these
decisions. In light of the financial difficulties within department , I
believe they made the best choice possible and I do not support overruling
their decision.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your views on this.

Sorry to here you feel this way Debbie!
I'm sure the money is there somewhere?

Same old cr*p. They hack the budget all to hell and then they say they have a surplus they don't know what to do with. They can build bike trails, pave the road to my "secret" fishing spot, build a stadium (or two) and give tax breaks to companies that don't need it but they can't fund the dept. of fish and wildlife. The reason :THEY DON'T WANT TO LOSE THEIR MEAL TICKET. Fish and wildlife are expensive and cause trouble for big business.(i.e. developers and industry) Keep emailing your reps.

I think we need to remind Deb that the money spent by the department is our money and we should have a say in the way it is spent. If the department had been making good decissions we would not be in this mess in the first place.
