Hey I put an add on Craigslist in the Anitque section regarding Stadium chairs?
Anyways, some guy responds via email saying this item "is as good as sold" and "ohhh I am heading to Istanbul Turkey and having my assistant mail you a cashiers check and he would make arrangements for pickup upon his return.

In another email he sends stating his assistant has overpaid me by $1,200 and could I send the money back to him. And he "needs to be able to trust me."
So I respond "you should fire your assistant, and if I think anything is illegal I am going to refer these emails to local law enforcement."

LOL ,,,i never hear from this guy again. And did not receive my $1,200 cashiers check he allegedly sent.
So is this SPAM?

its spam/scam... i WILL fvck with those people, and its fun as hell.... its all over craigslist, and you are the one responsible for seeing it or not...

If you have half a brain you can sort out the crap from the killer deals on Craigslist. My wife does quite a good business there buying quality hutches for $50, spends a couple days doing a custom hand finish on them and then turns them around for $750 - $1,250 each a few times a month. Lots of scammers but you learn to recognize their language.

And yes, RH, it is fun to mess with them.

I've bought and sold boats, trailers, cars, etc. It's a great marketplace but you really do need to learn to recognize the scammers.

SPAM is trying to sell you something you don't want...this one is a straight up scam.

You get the cashier's check, and it's made out for $1200 more than it was supposed to be...you ship the antique and send along $1200...and a few days later you find out that the cashier's check was bogus.

You're out the antique, and the $1200.00.

or, and this has happened...

you get the cashiers check, cash that check, send the 1200 dollars plus the antique to them... then the bank says it was a fake, and they make you pay back ALL of the total of the check... so you are out everything.... plus your bank may tell you to go somewhere else because you are an idiot...


a few years back i had a bit of money to spend and was looking at a 99 SS Camaro great price, miles, ect... so i sent an email...

i got back some sh!t about how it was ready to go into the shipping container, and they would ship it to my address as soon as payment was received, and i was going to be very happy with the purchase of this vehicle...

they received something alright... i told them to go fvck themselves and i was forwarding the emails to the local PD... never did get that Camaro...
