I want to take a new fisherman salmon fishing for his first time and thought Chico Creek would be a good place for a beginner to have some success. Can anyone tell me if the chums are running yet? Thanks in advance for any info.

Just talked to a relative who keeps up-to-date on Chico Creek. He said it's a no show on chums so far. His "marker" for good fishing is Halloween. Commercial nets have been out in Hood Canal this week (south of the bridge). Maybe they're intercepting fish in Puget Sound, also.

I saw a post on another fishing site and the guy said he's seen some schools around the mouth. Who knows?

Guess there's only one thing to do-- go fishing! My relative gets most of his info from employees in his shop. Maybe some of the reports are past their "pull-date". When he goes chum fishing, it's at the other end of the creek, near Kitsap Lake. If I hear anything besides rumors, I'll post it.

I was Chico yesterday evening and caught one and lost another. There are a few schools moving around and I suggest you hit it during high tide. Also caught one silver last Thursday evening (2 lbs). Tight Lines! Craig

I live 5 minutes from the mouth of the creek, went yesterday to see if they are there yet.
They are starting to arrive...there are a couple schools milling around.

Coarse you never know...You could get caught in the middle of someones "salmon rage" This happens in most battle fishing situations, usally buy the guy who cant catch a fish when everybody else is, and can prove to be harmful to your health.
