OK Fellas-
I would like some guidance on the location of sled friendly waters. I stay mainly on the cowlitz now and would like to expand my horizons. I don't intend to invade any sanctuaries of the drifters, I just would like more options. I live in Puyallup, so either north or south is OK. The sled is 20 ft. inboard and the bottom is tough (as long as I don't have to use the come-along every time out) Thank you in advance. I would also be interested in drift boat advice for me and the wife. No experience, hate swimming in sub 60 degree water and love steelhead FISHING(catching is also nice). Safety, versatility and operational ease main concerns. Would be used mostly in summer as sled has a heater.

Lots of sleds on the Skykomish.

Thats the problem too many sleds already on the Skykomish.It's alot better in a drift boat.If you must use your sled stay below Sultan .You may have to with a 20' inboard it gets pretty skinny above Sultan.You may want to try the Skagit it's big enough for your boat.

I have fished in sleds on the columbia and snake and this seems fine and works well. But in the smaller rivers a sled seems excessive and unnecessary. I cringe when I here a sled coming upstream in some of my favorite smaller rivers. I don't care how good of a driver you are, you can't tactfully work through a hole someone is fishing in a small river. You end up just blowing through the hole, when coming upstream. I would say use the sleds in the big water, and use a drifter or other non-motorized craft in smaller water.
