I can't understand why they wouldn't be allowed. It is cool watching it fly like a tracer.
Also expanding broadheads can't be used? Tens of thousands of deer are killed every year with those elsewhere.

mechanical broadheads are probably next on the list to get approved. I'm excited about the lumenok approval. It will be interesting to see how my arrows fly with them though. Might have to use a heavier broadhead to counteract the added weight of the lumenok. short, tree stand range shots won't be an issue but I suspect it could get interesting at 50+ yards.

never said I'd shoot an animal at 50 yards or more. I routinely practice out to 70 yards and with my new sight I'll be dialed out to 100 yards real soon. Why you ask? Because I can...and practicing at long range makes the shots I would actually take on an animal at say 20, 30, and 40 (max) insanely easy.
Also, practicing at long range really helps me stay on top of my form and release. Even just a small flaw in your form shows BIG when shooting at 50+.

The spirit of archery continues to deteriorate. Since I've only got three years of archery hunting behind me I don't really know what that means Pretty sure it includes my composite bow though

I do agree that there is a big difference between hunting and shooting! I bought a sheep hunting video a while back and some dude was talking about how he was accurate out to 300's with his muzzleloader. Dude drills a giant Ram about 270's away. Thing tumbles ass over teakettle. They are all high fiving and patting themselves on the back over what a great shot it was. As they approach it the Ram stands up and runs off for good. Not even limping or anything. The bullet never even broke skin. It made for a good laugh

Two animals ever taken over 200. A 2 point at 210 and a bear at 346. I hunt with a muzzleloader now. Took an elk at 5 yards. That was more fun than shooting my big bull at 80 yards. I don't see some technology items as a foul. I'm fine with open sights only, no glass for ML, etc. Have never had an issue with wet powder, but I am finicky on how I load and safeguard my rifle when hunting in the rain. Here you go Stam, the next best advance in archery. http://www.racembac.com/our-products/bow-mag/
