So a couple of buddies and I are planning a 3 day hike in bow hunt trip. this will be our first time doing it. aside from the obvious sleeping bag and the like, what would you fellas suggest to bring or not to bring? want to be light as possible without leaving out something we would regret on the trip.
  food ideas?
The idea is to hike in several miles and set up a base camp we can hunt from.
  Thanks in advance!

I’ll be tweaking my list for a 7 day solo trip here over the next month or so but some of the staples…
Food-Coffee, Erin Baker Breakfast cookies, power bars, peanut butter crackers, Gu energy packets, Mountain House backpacking meals (they were 20% off at REI over the weekend), whiskey.
Clothes: Marino Wool: undies (extra pair of socks), light weight, heavy weight. Pants, rain gear, bandana, wool cap, hat, gloves. Boots.
  Stove, extra fuel
Water: purifying tablets (I use the chlorine based ones as they taste just like drinking water but take a wee bit longer). 3 liter water bladder. Electrolyte tablets similar to Gatorade
Shelter: Tarp, bivy sack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad
  Trekking poles
Hunting: Camera, knife, game bags, binoculars, broadhead tool w/sharpener, bow, arrows (four w/broadheads 2 w/judos)
Safety: Ten essentials + Spot communicator, GPS w/paper maps, headlamp.
If I were to prioritize the above for a 3 day trip it’d be………
Boots, boots, boots. Bow. Optics. Pack. Shelter.

As far as the dehydrated dinners, are there some that are better than the others? brands or preffered choices? Or.... I just get a half gallon of Black Velvet and pass out 1/4 from the truck.....so many options

As for favorites that is what pre season scouting is for You do want to pay attention on the serving size though as they range from 1 person to 2.5 or 1000 to 2500 calories.

A game bag or two might be helpful if you plan on being successful.

Any advise on water purifiers? someone suggested chlorine tablets...
I will be hunting the coast range so many little streams and springs are avaliable in the area.

I prefer the tablets and boiling. One less thing to break, no bulk and weighs virtually nothing. Especially considering we have an abundance of clear running water sources. I usually make a cup of coffee and a MH while topping off my water in the afternoon. I figure if I'm going to boil the water anyways there is no reason to dump it into my water bladder, treat it, carry it to the top of a ridge and then boil it? Potable Aqua Chlorine-dioxide tablets
