I'm planning a Jan 3 float trip on the Skagit from Cascade River to Concrete. Are there any restrictions due to the eagles? Any suggestions on a better stretch to float?

Bobstep,

Cascade to Concrete is about a 20 mile float; kind of a long drift in January. Cascade to Rockport or Rockport to Concrete are usual one day floats. The Marblemount launch (Cascade) has a 10 am or later guideline or rule by the Forest Service during eagle season. I have no idea if it's enforced or enforcable.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

The 11 a.m. float restriction only pertains to those licensed by the Forest Service. For everyone else it is voluntary. Thank you Forest Service.

Welcome back, Salmo G.

Robbo's right, the float restrictions are voluntary. Marblemount to Sutter Creek is a good half-day float. Marblemount to Rockport is a full day, but in the winter most of the fish seem to be caught from Sutter Creek to Fabers.

Talked to guide last night and he agreed that floating the lower section was the best bet. We're on for Monday and will post our results.

Floated Rockport to Concrete on Monday in the snowstorm. River was in great shape. Caught 5 nice dollies. No sight of any steelhead.
