...of some pretty horrendous hunting ethics.

I don't care what tribe you do or do not belong to, this makes you look like a fuckin idiot...or, more to the point, two entire boatloads of fuckin idiots.

Wonder when Billy Frank will give a quote about how "we're" destroying the environment again and that this is was a honorable kill!

To be fair, it's no less dead than any deer shot with a bow or a rifle...but it's a pretty disgusting way to get the job done, and to video it and put it on a public facebook page when you're done makes you kinda stupid.

Kinda really, really, really stupid.

I watched the video. Kinda gross, but it is a deer, they are everywhere (except when I have my muzzle loader). They shouldn't have posted it on Facebook, it is just going to cause an unnessesary stir. I'm thinking a slap on the wrist from the tribe. Some of them may have a guilty conscience, but not all of them.

I talked to a doctor once and he went on a caribou hunt in Yukon territory with a tribal guide. He had been unsuccessful for a week, so they pretty much did the same thing. Except they used a motor boat and a rope around the antlers, so the doctor could arrow it.

He was pretty depressed and embarrassed about it, which is how I think most of us would have felt.

Just to play a bit of Devil's Advocate here, but there are plenty who whine about the tribal hunters and fishers using "modern" techniques to harvest fish and game...like using a rifle, for instance...and I'm sure plenty of them are now whining about how "inhumane" this scene was.

If you're one of those types, at least be consistent with your whining.

The deer is dead, just as dead as any deer shot with a bow, a rifle, or a shotgun, and so long as it was legal for them to do it, then the technique shouldn't matter.

What should matter, however, is being dumb enough to make a video of it, acting like morons while doing it, and then putting the video somewhere where the general public can see it.

I think it's flat out a [Bleeeeep!] way to take an animal whether it was legal or not. Pursuit is one thing, terrorizing it is another.

While the taking of life is necessary for our survival, to be human we should do it with respect and reverence.

I think this is a real embarrassment to the Squaxin Tribe. They enjoy a pretty solid reputation in this community. Socially and culturally it's gonna' be hard for them to do what they ought to to the perps.

Then there's the part about taking video and posting the whole thing on the internet. If the Tribe used Todd's policy that stupidity should hurt, they will impose an additional penalty on the perps for extreme stupidity. I know I would.

That gets slightly more complicated Hank when the perps are relatives.
