Hey there everyone
Heres my next Question to all? I hope its not openning a can of worms or anything, but I have 6 Lamiglas rods 8' and 8'6", and I am looking into getting a Loomis, maybe 9'? and I'm wondering if there is one that seems to be the general all around rod you guys are useing for drift fishing from the bank and boat? And the preference between GL2,GL3,IMX. Most of the guides I've talk with use the STR1082S GL2 for free drifting. All the help I can get is very much appreciated.
Thanks Fish.

I own a custom rod building business, TH Custom Rods. I have built dozens of rods for members of this site, and most importantly saved them money.

I would be happy to dicuss some of the options Loomis rods offer and give you a list of models ranging from GL2-GLX and my prices.

fish,
Being new to the steelhead scene, I`ve been asking around a lot about rods (and reels)
and have come to the conclusion that sometimes too much information befuddles the mind, (mine anyways), I was pretty much set on a set-up for starting out then swayed.
Now I feel like I`m back to square #1.heh-heh
OOPS, except for the reel,, I`m still getting the Sahara..*L*

About the G-loomis rods! I have just ordered the str 1082 gl3 custom made from a rod builder in Marysville. I had this same discussion with him about whick rods would be the best for drift fishing. His reply was if it was him buy a dirft fishing rod it would be the str 1082 light action 9'-0" gl3. His reason behind that was the extra sensitivity of the gl3. The gl3 is made with a little better material than the gl2, so it is stronger. Be sure when buying a nice rod like that to match up with a nice, smooth casting reel and you have an excellent combination for steelhead drift fishing. If you want to know who builds these great rods all custom, e-mail me at bjones@martinselig.com. See ya! tight lines.

Hi Rainycity.

Boy i'll tell you what i'm definitely mixed up with this one. I've been fishing for many years and over these years i've aquired 26 fishing poles and most of them have there own special purpose? But now I want to move up from the Lamigas G1000's to G-loomis, the problem is the sticker? being Married with 3 kids and a single income I can't afford to go out and buy one of each, and thats why I came to the board looking for advice on a good all around rod that will be better then my Lamies, Most likely the IMX? As for the reels i'm pretty set on that Shimano Sahara for a change on my spinning rod, and the Shimano Curado for my new Loomis which ever she'll be.
See Ya Fish.

Fish,
You live in Orting and I live in Burien,
maybe we can get a better deal by buying more than one, (loomis rods) Let me know if you want to try and do something like that

Hey Fish & Rain,
I'm a new G-Loomis Blank dealer & builder in W. Wash and can help you guys out in your decision. All rods are built to factory standards with the exception is that I build them with Fuji SIC guides, much better guides according to a factory Rep. I'm in the Tac. Puy. area Email and I can give you a # to get in touch with.
