Monterey was scratchy. We started mooching and said F this and got the troll gear out. Trolled 5 hours for 4 bites,3 hooked and 2 landed,this being the smaller of the two, The other fish went 32 this one was high 20s. I saw MAYBE 3 other fish boated around us. Heard scores of 1 fish per boat,or zero. Cable rigged herring on the troll was the order of the day.
Nate-that is just your everyday run of the mill ugly stick tiger in the background. Resonably priced,bullet proof and effective with a shimano
tekota line counter.

those UGS are great rods for the money... plus, i wouldnt bring my nice stuff or even buy expensive stuff for use in salt water, reels, different story, but thats just me... trolling rods are sticks off the side of the boat...
that second fish is a frickin pig dude... what was the girth on it 26 inches?

Didn't measure the girth. I'll let you know what my girth is after I eat it . The tiger rods are a great value and they take a hell of a beating. I am a big fan of buying utilitarian boat gear and taking care of it. A rod for under a hundred dollars can last many many years . Reels are a different deal. None of that gear is mine it all belongs to my buddy Cap'n Fred. However I do plan on picking up a shimano trinidad 20 for pitching fishtraps to albies this year along with a new seeker or a calstar. For steelhead I am willing to shell out whatever coin I have on good quality equipment,which for me lately is leaning towards Diawa/Rainshadow rods and reels.
