Looking for a good plug rod reel. Needs to have line counter and not be a big bulky salt water reel. Bantam? What do you suggest I look at.

Tekota 300 no line counter or Calcutta 400 no line counter with braid. Good luck,

Counting passes of the line guide works just as well as a line counter if you are trying to instruct newbs in how far to put the plugs out.

You can get by without the line counter and save a few $.

I'm partial to the Diawa Luna line for "reel em up" sorta reels. Pick your size. I have a few round Abu's on plug rods as well with no real complaints and they are significantly cheaper.

PS - 6 passes of the line guide seems about right on the 300 series.

Go old school & pick a few Bantam 50. Tough, reliable & upgradable drags if you want more stopping power. Good line capacity for kings or any steelhead that swims.

I just got the Revo Toro NaCi 60 a while back and spooled it up with 65 lb fireline tracer. Hi vis lpw vis every 2.5 ft. It's going to be used mainy as a bobber reel but would make a good plug reel too.

Know guys that like thw new Okuma Coldwater if you're set on a line counter.

Right now, Cabela's ahd DepthMaster reels on sale in various sizes at good prices.. I have three of them from one for my Kokanee rod, one Lake trolling and one for Saltwater. All seem good to me.

F the line counter and run a bobber stop to mark your length ya want out. Use braid so the stop won't slide. Good luck,

SZ

The Tekota 300LC is my anwser. However if you don't like or choices or it doesn't fit your budget go with this:
http://www.powerpro.com/publish/content/...th_Hunter_.html

Metered Power Pro for extact line distance and trolling. I ran it last year on a set of Calcutta 400B's for my Kwik fish rods and it worked great.
