For years, I've been running 10lb Maxima Ultragreen with egg loops, double hook set up with #2 gami's or owners and have never had any problems catching my fair share of fish (kings, coho & steelhead) out on the Olympic rivers. I start tying them up this time of year and store them on "pool floaty's" cut into ~18" pieces.
This year I'm gonna tie some fluoro leaders up and give them a go. I've already bought some Seaguar Fluorocarbon (10lb, 200yds) and plan on tying at least one "floaty" full of leaders...BUT, I'm wondering about knots. All I ever read/heard about fluoro is that "If you don't tie the right knot, it will break!"

Should I go on ahead and tie my normal egg loops, or should I go with some (unknown to me) new specially formulated and designed for fluoro use egg loop knot?

Any help is appreciated.

Lots of spit. An egg loop is an egg loop. P-Line fluoroclear is the closest thing to fluorocarbon I like. It ties real well, better so than most monos in my opinion.

Tie your knots slow with lots of lube and test when you're done. You can feel the knot grab and not slide smoothly if done wrong. My 2-cents.

Like YBD already said, there is no special egg loop knot for fluorocarbon leaders. Just make sure to provide plenty of lubricant (i.e. spit, water, beer, etc...). Fluorocarbon lines generate far more friction when tightening knots than regular mono, causing their knot strength to greatly diminish when tightened incorrectly. Do it right and you'll be in good shape.

On a side note, most true Fluorcarbons (especially Seaguar) break right around where they are rated for. Since you are currently using Maxima Ultragreen for leader material, don't expect to get the same tensile strength out of the Fluorocarbon.

agree the lack of stretch is not to be under-rated either.
I use it with no ill effects providing I use a slow, limber rod.

Used 30 lb seaguar for tying egg loops on a double hook set-up, while fishing for kings this season.

Held up fine, didn't seem to notice any issues using that knot.

With Seaguar I have found it to have great tensile strength and had very few problems with knots even when tied in a hurry. Now some of the cheaper flouro lines always burned or slipped.

Why bother, guides are using mono & catching tons of fish.

been using seaguar for years now...

landed many OP springers on 10 and 12lb seaguar. but like mentioned, the line rating is fairly true, dont grab 10lb fluoro and expect it to be as strong as 10lb maxima... you may want to go for 12lb fluoro if you are accustomed to 10lb maxima.

Thanks for the inputs everyone!
I just wanted to try something new and didn't want to ruin any chances of giving it a fair shake. Ya never know, it could be the difference between catching mediocre fish and the biggest fish of the season...time/place/presentation all play a part.
