I just wanted to drop a note of thanks to the guys who tried to help me out of a jam up on the Sauk yesterday (Sunday). It kinda renewed some faith in fishermen and river folks in general.

I had a brain fart Sunday morning and managed to get my 2WD rig stuck in the sand at the govt. bridge putin. That was after passing up the mill ramp because it looked too hairy for me. Luckly, everybody else was already in and gone so I wasn't clogging anything up. While my buddy was back in Darrington trying to find a AAA block and wench, I was left to stew.

First one guy came down the bank and immediately asked if I needed a pull. Of course I said yes. He ran up the road to his rig but didn't have a strap with him. And my tow rope was in my buddy's car, of course. So this Tarheel and his brother got behind the truck and tried to push me out while I was throwing sand and whatnot back at them. I finally thanked them and said they shouldn't waste anymore time with me.

The next samaritans were a couple guys in a 4X4 Nissan. They stopped and pulled a logging chain out of their truck box and were getting ready to hook it up when the wrecker showed up. Twenty minutes and one big block and winch later, we were up and out of the way.

I also wanted to give a thanks to the fly fishermen who stopped to see how things were going while I was waiting on the tow. I was kicking myself a little bit and they said it happens to everyone. They also offered a sound piece of advice and cautioned me against trying to go ahead and do the float once we got unstuck later on. I was so pissed about getting stuck I was thinking we HAD to fish the drift. If not for them, I might have really added insult injury by trying to find Fabers in the dark. So we got a little bank fishing in.

Sorry this has gone on so long. Just wanted to thank those guys again if they read this board.
