I am headed to the coast and would like some info on the Hoko,Clearwater,Lyre,Elwha. I have seen drift boats in the Elwha and was wondering where to launch.

Make sure you check your regs. You can float the Elwah, but you can't fish from the boat. You can launch at the hatchery, right under the 1-way bridge. The take out is on the reservation at the mouth. Many years ago we used to launch at the dam, but you need a couple hundred feet of cable on your winch to drop your boat from the road. Good luck!

The Clearwater mainline is closed at Hunt creek. The culvert is out till summer. You could fish from the old Raynier Bridge site to the Picnic bar on the west side but it would only be a 2.2 mile float. If you come in from the North (S.F. Hoh) there are launches at coppermine campground (River mile 17.0) Goodyear Bridge (River mile 15.5) Gross Bridge (river mile 12.0) and The homestead access by Shale creek. There is a way around the culvert on the Queets ridge road (Q-30000)but it would be a long turn-a-round.
